In April we announced that long-time Executive Director, Murray Jose-Boerbridge, is moving on to other opportunities – as Executive Director of the Toronto HIV/AIDS Network (THN). PWA’s Board of Directors governance committee has initiated a strategy to recruit a new ED. The strategy includes an evaluation of the role with engagement of stakeholder feedback and recommendations.
As the largest HIV/AIDS practical support service provider in Canada, recruiting the best possible candidate is no small task. Stay tunes for updates on the recruitment process.
In the meantime, Suzanne Paddock has graciously accepted the responsibility of Interim Executive Director. Gareth Henry has stepped in to the role of Interim Program Director, and Nick Papadogiannis has stepped in to the role of Interim Service Access Manager.
We are pleased to welcome Stephen Roy as Interim Engagement Coordinator – taking over for Nick – during this time of transition.
Stephen is a long-time Volunteer with PWA starting back in February 1993. He is also client and a long term survivor of HIV having tested positive in August of 1984. For the past couple of years he has been volunteering at the Service Access Workstation. Stephen stated, “I am thrilled to be offered position as I always rave about the Staff at PWA – their combined knowledge, expertise and compassion is truly inspiring – and now I get to be one.”
Bike Rally Fever
And it’s that time of year when PWA’s signature and sustaining fundraising event – PWA’s Friends For Life Bike Rally – ramps up for another incredible year. This year marks the Bike Rally’s 20th. Who could have predicted in 1999 that 20 years and over $16-million later the event would continue transform the lives of thousands every year.
To help execute this extraordinary event this year is Bike Rally Assistant Shelly Zhang. Read about Shelly here.
