Since 1987, volunteers have been providing much needed support to people living with HIV/AIDS.

In response to the AIDS crisis, a group of HIV+ volunteers took it upon themselves to address the lack of services and resources available for people already infected with the virus. And to this day, volunteers continue to provide a wide selection of programs and services for people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Last year, 130 volunteers delivered over 38,000 hours of service – everything from governance and leadership to food security services, therapeutic care treatments, workshops, and educational talks. At most times, volunteers are the first point of contact for the 2900 people who count on PWA for support every year.

In addition, over 40,000 hours of time and talent is given by hundreds of volunteers participating in fundraising events such as our Friends For Life Bike Rally, raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and much needed funds for PWA.

PWA continues to be the largest practical support AIDS Service Organization in Canada, and it could not be possible without the incredible involvement of amazing volunteers.

Thank you volunteers!
