The Drag community has been forging the path to outrageous freedom for decades. Drag queens and kings unapologetically challenge gender and sexuality norms with fabulous flair, and have fun while doing it!
When the AIDS crisis hit, the Drag community donned their wigs, gowns and fabulous heels performing until their feet bled to raise funds in support of the thousands who were losing their jobs, income, housing and dignity. And to this day, their support continues!
We’ve come a long way baby, yet there’s still more to be accomplished.
Let’s celebrate and kick up our heels to our Drag sisters and brothers!
PWA is proud to be part of the Church-Wellesley Village BIA’s Circus So Gay Village Festival. Join us on Sunday, June 26 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM and show your fabulous side!
PWA’s first annual outrageously fun High Heel Strut will take place on the “catwalk” from Maitland to Alexander and back. Strut your stuff in your favorite heels, go all out and dress in drag, raise funds to support people living with HIV/AIDS, and have a fabulous time doing it!
$20 to participate (that’s less than what you paid for in drinks last night) and we ask you to raise a minimum $100 through pledges.

Strut Rules and Regulations
- You must be fabulous!
- $20 Entrance fee. Recommended fundraising of $100. Register online.
- You must have a pair of heels on both feet. At least 1 inch in height.
- You must ‘werk’ it in whatever way highlights how fabulous you are.
- Judges will rank your strut from Maitland to Alexander and back by:
- Speed: Can you work your heels in a timely manner?,
- Style: It’s about the shoes baby, the shoes! but feel free to add a few adornments to your outfit! and
- Grace: Sashay but with some graceful sass!
- Winner will get the Golden Heel! Prizes will be awarded for second and third place.
